Whether you live, work, receive care, or represent an interested group or organisation in the county, we wanted to know your views on these proposed priorities and which are most important to you. This helped us make sure we were focusing on the right issues as we developed the strategy.

The consultation ran from Monday 31 October to Sunday 18 December 2022.

Background to the consultation

While the population of Herefordshire experience good health and wellbeing overall, we know that this is not shared by everyone. As people live longer with more complex health conditions, combined with the impact of Covid-19 and ongoing financial challenges, we must find new ways of helping people live healthy lives.

Herefordshire's Health and Wellbeing Board has a duty to work together to improve the health and wellbeing of all our residents. As part of this, it is required to produce a Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy that identifies priorities for local action.

Our vision is that 'Everyone in Herefordshire leads a happy and healthy fulfilling life'.

To achieve this vision, we have identified four goals:

  1. Healthy people - people are supported to be in control of their health and make healthy choices
  2. Opportunity for all - opportunities exist for everyone through fair employment for all, education and social mobility
  3. Thriving communities - people live in communities that foster wellbeing and resilience
  4. Healthy and sustainable places - people can live and work in sustainable, safe and healthy environments

The Health and Wellbeing Board met with a range of professionals as well as our community partners.

We've looked at the data together to help identify where we think we can make the biggest difference to meet our goals and improve health and wellbeing in the county. These are the 12 priorities set out in the questionnaire.
