Have your say on Herefordshire's special educational needs and disability capital investment strategy 2020-2030. Until 9 February 2021. Consultation is closed. Comments and final strategy available.
Herefordshire Council is in the process of publishing a ten year strategy to set out how it will continue to invest in and improve the physical premises of the specialist settings (special schools and other places that provide specialist teaching for children with SEND). Consultation documents have been sent to all parents and carers of children with education, health and care plans, as well as all of Herefordshire's schools. The consultation is aimed at anyone with an interest in children with SEND.
The strategy has the following core aims:
- All of Herefordshire's children and young people who attend a specialist SEND setting are educated in high quality, fit-for-purpose accommodation
- Sufficient capacity is available within Herefordshire to commission places in local specialist settings to meet the need of Herefordshire's SEND population and
- A consistent strategic approach towards capital improvement projects in SEND settings is followed using methodologies that are consistent with the wider education capital investment strategy for all of Herefordshire's schools, thus ensuring clear prioritisation and achieving best value investment
The draft SEND capital investment strategy set out how these core aims will be achieved along with recommendations as to how this investment strategy will be taken forward.
Your responses to our questionnaire will be considered in producing the strategy for publication, which we anticipate will be in the spring of 2021.
