Have your say on domestic abuse services in Herefordshire. Monday 22 November 2021 to Wednesday 19 January 2022. This consultation is closed.

Domestic abuse is one of the most prevalent crimes in England and Wales - it can be physical, emotional, sexual, and/or financial, and can happen to anyone regardless of background, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, disability, or sexuality.

In the period April 2020 to March 2021 there were 1,354 domestic abuse incidents reported in Herefordshire. However, it is widely understood that domestic abuse is under-reported locally and nationally.

Herefordshire Council is enhancing and developing additional local domestic abuse services with funding from the government intended to help the implementation of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021. This has placed new duties on local authorities and their partners to provide support and safe accommodation for people experiencing domestic abuse, including children.

We are speaking with our partner organisations to draw up a draft strategy to enhance and develop additional local domestic abuse services. We want to make sure that any services are fit for purpose and meet the needs of those seeking support, including children.

Have your say on domestic abuse services in Herefordshire

We wanted to hear from you if you or someone you knew had been affected by domestic abuse.

In particular, we wanted your thoughts and comments on:

  • Your experience of the service and support you received
  • Any experience of safe accommodation
  • Suggestions for improvements
  • Any ways the service could be made easier to access

We were particularly keen to hear from people who felt that it would be difficult for them to access services and support.
