Have your say on the hackney carriage and private hire licensing policy. Friday 15 January to Friday 26 February 2021. This consultation is closed.

Herefordshire Council (in its role as licensing authority) is responsible for the licensing and regulation of the taxi and private hire trade.

We consulted on our draft revised hackney carriage and private hire licensing policy, which would cover the next five years (2021 to 2026). This sets out the principles we would apply when making decisions.

Many of the changes within the policy relate to new requirements stipulated in statutory guidance issued in July 2020 by the Department For Transport.

We wanted to hear from dual drivers, hackney and private hire vehicle licence holders and operator licence holders, as well as organisations which may have an interest in the way in which the taxi and private hire trade is regulated by the local authority.

The consultation ran for six weeks from Friday 15 January to 5pm on Friday 26 February 2021.

Please note that comments or responses received after the end of the consultation period will not be considered, this is due to strict time scales that have to be adhered to as part of the established governance process.
